My Little Trailblazer! 10/15/07

Caitlin decided to run for Student Council President. She had to give a 1 minute speech in front of the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at an assembly. After the assembly I took a video of her speech but it was with my digital camera which doesn't have a microphone, so there's no sound. Now, video of a speech doesn't sound all that thrilling, but you just haven't seen my Caitlin give a speech!! The principal told us at the assembly that this is the first year EVER that this school has had a student council. So when the kids were told to do a "speech", they all stood at the podium and gave speeches!...except Caitlin.

Watch the video - her speech went as follows:

Hi! I'm Caitlin Garrett! I will stand on one foot as long as I can just to get elected president! Remember, Caitlin Garrett! I will put on my dancing shoes and get to work! Remember, Caitlin Garrett! I will leap high to bring up school spirit! Remember, Caitlin Garrett! I will spin 'til I'm dizzy to make it more fun! Remember, Caitlin Garrett! I will bend over backwards for students like you! Remember, Caitlin Garrett! I will stretch to make this school a better place! Remember, Caitlin Garrett! I will tie up in knots to get it all done, because Hillcrest Hornets are number one! WHAT'S MY NAME? (Caitlin Garrett!) OH, COME ON, YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT! LET ME HEAR YOUR HORNET PRIDE! WHAT'S MY NAME? (Caitlin Garrett!) That's right! Caitlin Garrett for President!

She set the precedent for speeches in the coming years, and today it was announced that Caitlin Garrett is the first ever Student Council President at Hillcrest Elementary School!! (I guess they remembered her name! - Thanks Ashlee!)
