Pinewood With A Punch 3/14/09

It was the Pinewood Derby Saturday Morning at the church.Reid & the boys made 2 cars again this year. It was Austin's last Pinewood Derby & Cameron's first one. They STARTED making them on THURSDAY NIGHT at about 9:30 pm!! Luckily, Reid's buddy loaned him a nice saw, & another buddy at STACEY'S CUSTOM PAINT & POLISH offered to paint the cars for him!! (It pays to have connections, I guess!)Austin's car was a Nissan, of course, complete with little metal Nissan ornaments on front & back.Cameron's was a shark car, complete with fish scales.Cameron won 4th place over-all, but 1st place in the Wolves, thus he goes on to the District Pinewood Derby at the Pineridge Mall.After tying 4 times in dead heats down to the milli-second, Austin finally won 1st place in the Webelos & was the Grand Champion over-all, thus he also goes on to the District Pinewood Derby in the mall.We've NEVER won a Pinewood Derby before!! How is it possible that they threw these cars together late at night & won?! I know -- It's because MOM is the one who weighs them & graphites the wheels!!
This is Ethan's "It's not fair!" face... because he was the first boy to have a pinewood derby car in our family, so his cars never won (in fact his first car was made in a hotel room with markers & nickels),... & he didn't get a chocolate car to eat because he was too old to race this year,... & he never got to race his cars on a cool metal track with an official timer,... & he didn't ever get to race his cars in a District race in the Pineridge Mall!!

Now for the PUNCH-LINE:
The District Pinewood Derby is on April 18th. We are moving April 2nd. We must already come back to Idaho on April 4th & April 9th.
SO -- the boys made the difficult decision to NOT race in the District Derby in the Mall, & let the 2nd place winners enjoy that opportunity!
