"Butte-iful Butte Montana" 9/8/07

Reid does daily live radio spots. He starts with: "Hi. This is Reid Garrett with Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge in beautiful Butte, Montana...." However the view from the interstate is not very appealing. From "the Big M" you might see some of the "Butte-iful". (see next entry)

Butte is said to be "a mile high and a mile deep".
We are at 5500+ feet in elevation here. This is a view of the big copper mine.
The well-known Berkley Pit is a mile deep full of toxic waste, but it looks so neat from this view.
The mountains on the East ridge behold the "Lady of the Rockies" statue.
You can see it in the upper right corner of the picture.

right: I just zoomed-in more on the mine.
You can see about 5 mine head-frames in this picture.
They are lit-up with red lights at night.
left: I don't know what this big pit is, but it looked cool through the zoom lens.
This was taken just left of the mine.
It should give you more of a panoramic view of the Northeast.

This is looking to the North of Butte.
It could be placed to the left of the above two pictures.
We would drive through these mountains when we lived in Great Falls. This picture looks like something Dad should paint. This might be my favorite one.

This is looking to the South.
That's a little bit of MT Tech in the lower right corner.
The Copper Mountain Sports Complex where Ethan plays football is on the near side of that little green hill mid-right side of the picture.

I took this picture about 30 minutes later from the Sports Complex in the last picture.
You can see "the Big M" hill where all the other pictures were taken.
That large white building is a church, but I can't remember what faith. Probably Catholic with all of the Irish here.
