Homework-time has been a time of stress and madness for me ever since we moved to Montana. In the first city they required so much homework that my kids were overwhelmed. They would cry, procrastinate, hide it, etc. Now, they are all in school and haven't seen each other all day! So they think it's recess or something! They sneak away, play, watch TV, talk, giggle, fight, eat, spill things, etc...all while I am trying to get them to do their homework. I felt like I needed to call the Super Nanny!!!
My sweet, well-meaning husband would say, "When they get home they just need to come in, sit down at the table together, and finish it before they do anything else. That's what my Dad always had my sisters do." Now, obviously that's what I was trying to do!-- But the keyword there was DAD!
I am not Dad. I never will be. Yet in spite of this, my friend, Martie, has blessed my life with a miracle. She blogged about how her family's homework-time works, and as I said before, it's a miracle! She is a genius!
Now, I realize it has only been 2 days. But NEVER has my home been so at peace after school! Thank You, Martie!

Thank you for the kind tribute! I am so, so happy this is working for you. It has made amazing peace in our home. I cannot imagine how I survived before! =O)
Take care.
Is Caitlin feeling better?
Martie
She is still sore, but improving each day. Thanks for asking!
I love your Blog!! It makes me laugh!! You have to love Homework Time. Maybe you should share Martie's secret with us. I might find peace at my house.
Darc, I clicked on the homework link and there it was....our answer...
I used to use Love and Logic, but got out of the habit. Man, this reminds me I need to go back.
I hated homework so much. Last year I rebelled to the teachers and got in soooo much trouble.
What did I do?... transferred schools where they get more homework....better homework anyway. Lots of payoffs though.
Thanks for the link in your post....
