Summer Adventure 8/25/07

Every Thursday in July we rode the free bus to the library for the Summer Reading Club. This sparked a new adventure! With high gas prices, a new budget, and a desire to get our kids out of the house and educate them, we purchased bus passes for the month of August. We ran all over town on the busses.

We even went grocery shopping on the bus once. That was an adventure in itself!! We had 4 gallons of milk plus about 5 bags of groceries. We realized we had missed the bus that stops right in front of our house, so we had to take a bus that dropped us off about 6 blocks from our house. The children were great sports. They all have bigger muscles to prove it. Did I mention that it was raining?? Like I said, we only did that ONCE.

We did, however, have some great adventures. Our most recent was Friday. We discovered that with our bus passes, we could also ride the trolley bus where they give a mini tour of historic uptown Butte. We stopped off at the Mineral Museum at MT Tech. They have over 1,300 minerals on display, including a 27+ oz. gold nugget found near Butte in 1989 and a ~400 lb. smoky quartz crystal also found near Butte. My favorite was the dark room with flourescent minerals on display.

Did I ever think to bring my camera? Nope. I found this picture on the museum site at www.mbmg.mtech.edu/museum.htm. I took the kids' picture today after church.

This picture is hilarious! The kids are striking some serious bodybuilder poses! I love it!
